About Me

I’m Cecilia, a 24-year-old Communications major, with an unlimited curiosity for different cuisines and gastronomy. Striving towards my ultimate goal of becoming a food writer, I created this website to document my journey in learning more and growing my food knowledge. A positive learning curve requires necessary mistakes, that I will happily share, in addition to, hopefully, countless successes. Food shouldn’t only be for nutritional purposes, so I hope this sparks a new curiosity in you, too!

My 2022 Food LOG
Where it all started… On January 1st, 2022, I took on a personal challenge of cooking, baking and developing new recipes. The main goal was to further extend my knowledge on food and culinary techniques, while playing around and making use of my culinary creativity, sometimes in hopes of improving certain recipes (if and when possible). This challenge took place during each month of the year and every recipe (with pertinent commentary on the cooking process and what to improve) has been entered in a monthly food log. By January 1st, 2023, the challenge was complete, amounting to 100+ recipes tested, improved and developed.



DEVELOPING RECIPES
As the year 2022 progressed, I realised that testing existing recipes wasn’t challenging enough. Hence, I started dabbling in recipe developing. This required an extensive amount of research on the type of dish I wanted to make, taking from other recipes what I determined as the best and tweaking other parts through different reiterations of the same dish, until I achieved a satisfactory result. The idea was not to be perfectionist (although quite hard for me), but to learn and understand the process behind this creative process
